Services / Philosophy

Having your photo taken is a celebration of you, your talents, your relationships, your perspective, and your special moments.  What I strive to provide as a photographer are images that feel aligned with what you want to express, that feel personal and unique, AND an experience that leaves you glowing.

Portrait and event photography are just as much about connection as they are about beautiful images.  The experience of making a photograph matters, and so does the feeling you get when you look at the result - those captured moments.  Photographs are exclamation points in our lives, a legacy, and they should activate a place in your heart.

The people I have the privilege of working with genuinely matter to me.  Whether I am catching candid shots, or you are posed under the lights of the studio, I will do my utmost to provide a positive experience so that you can look back at your images with a reminiscence you appreciate.

I am happy  to discuss creative direction for portraits, event particulars, and any other details that might help things go smoothly on photo day.

about me

I am a creativity and emotion driven photographer with over 20 years experience working with analogue film.  Adding in digital photography and studio strobes along the way, I have honed in on editorial/arts portraiture and event photography as my focus over the past decade.

My work in the realm of music/performance photography has included covering events like Frogfest, Big Winter Classic, East Town Get Down, the Coca-Cola Stage at the Calgary Stampede, Calgary Pride, and multiple years of the Calgary Folk Festival and Blockheater.

With a background that incorporates journalism and fine art photography, my work has been published in magazines such as Seities, an analogue film publication, Local Drop Magazine, the Femme Handbook, and my own Chromatic.City magazine. I have participated in the Exposure Photography Festival via Motion Gallery and Idle Eyes Collective.

Some further highlights of my career include working on album/single art for Laura Hickli, Pluvelle, Gukie, and Aizysse Baga as well as completing artist portraits for Calgary and Montreal performers in the disciplines of Circus Arts, Burlesque, Acro, Pole, and Drag.

Since 2020 I have worked out of the beautiful collaborative space of Idle Eyes Collective, which has allowed me to elevate my studio work and provides a fantastic setting to create in.

The Importance of Art

I don’t consider art a luxury.  In fact, art is an essential part of the human experience. If you think about it, art is everywhere: the clothing we wear, the colours we paint our homes, the light and shadow that defines our world, the way we speak and move.  For some of us the focus on art in our lives takes centre stage, but I would wager anyone could think of examples of how they are impacted and enriched by art.  What did we fall back on during Covid when we couldn’t interact?  Films and TV programs, music, crafting, journalling…this is not a coincidence.

Whether you are an arts professional needing visuals that represent your work, an entrepreneur who needs branding and product images that tell a story, or someone who wants to commemorate a special relationship, moment in their lives, or event, I want to bring my skills as a photographer to uplift the visuals you are looking for.

Conceptual work, as well as creative photography techniques, such as double exposures, prism work, coloured lighting, and filters are specialties of mine.  So, if you are looking for something a little different let me help that come to life for you.  I also offer both digital and film photography and have various vintage cameras that can lend that nostalgic aesthetic.
